2. quick, kindred with the Greek ἄκρος and ὠκ-ύς, Sanscr. ācu (= celeriter). Hence the Latin acer, acies, acuo, acus, acutus, aquila, accipiter, acupedius (prob. also equus), ocior, and oculus.
